Description
The BEHRENS X Vianney Halter KWH Tantalum is not just a watch, it is a mechanical reinterpretation of something deeply industrial and almost forgotten: the vintage electricity meter.
Developed in collaboration with Vianney Halter, this version shifts the perception of the KWH from dense and industrial to precise and architectural. The geometry remains identical, but the execution changes everything.
The case is crafted from high-toughness zirconia composite ceramic, offering exceptional scratch resistance and a noticeably lighter feel on the wrist. The “Aqua Green” tone introduces contrast and depth, while the white structure frames the movement with clarity rather than weight.
The Concept
The Concept
The KWH is built around a simple idea: translating energy measurement into time display.
Instead of traditional hands, BEHRENS developed a mechanical system inspired by motion and transmission. The hours are displayed through a patented ruby-bearing micro-chain system, directly referencing the logic of movement found in industrial meters. There is something almost analog and nostalgic in the way time progresses.
The design also carries Vianney Halter’s influence: unconventional architecture, strong geometry, and a refusal to follow traditional watchmaking layouts. This is not about elegance in the classical sense, it is about presence, structure, and mechanical expression.
The result feels closer to a machine than a watch.

ABOUT VIANNEY HALTER
Born in 1963 and trained at the École d’Horlogerie de Paris, Vianney Halter began his career restoring antique timepieces before founding his own workshop in 1989. After moving to Sainte-Croix, he collaborated with François-Paul Journe and Denis Flageollet, creating complications for several maisons. In 1994, he launched Manufacture Janvier, where he developed both bespoke commissions and his own groundbreaking designs.
Halter’s Antiqua watch, a perpetual calendar housed in four distinct portholes, earned him international recognition and cemented his retro-futuristic aesthetic, inspired by Jules Verne and science fiction. He later contributed to projects such as Harry Winston’s Opus 3 and the Cabestan base movement.
In 2013, Halter introduced the Deep Space Tourbillon, featuring a central triple-axis tourbillon, followed in 2020 by the Deep Space Resonance, the result of a decade of development. Today, Vianney Halter stands as one of the most original voices in haute horlogerie, blending uncompromising technical mastery with unique artistic vision.
