In their third year of collaboration, Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin and the independent Chinese brand Behrens continue to push creative boundaries. The partnership has already produced some of the most unconventional and imaginative timepieces in contemporary watchmaking, and this summer they unveil their latest achievement: the BEHRENS X Konstantin Chaykin - Kremlin Edition.
This limited edition watch is crafted from textured grey and black carbon, enhanced with striking crimson accents. The material is both feather-light and exceptionally strong, offering durability without sacrificing comfort on the wrist. True to the spirit of both maisons, the Kremlin Edition is not just a watch but a playful reinterpretation of horological tradition.
At the heart of the design is Chaykin’s unmistakable Wristmon identity, merged seamlessly with Behrens’ distinctive vision of the Joker display. Hours and minutes are indicated through rotating discs, a signature feature, but for the first time a wandering seconds hand animates the dial. This addition brings a mischievous liveliness to the face, as if the watch itself were in motion beyond the passage of time.
Inside, the movement has been given a dramatic darkened treatment. Blackened plates and bridges are paired with a rotor finished with circular graining and radial brushing, creating a refined yet stealthy aesthetic that perfectly complements the bold carbon case.
The watch’s most whimsical detail lies in the smile. In this edition, the grin becomes a sector-shaped aperture, swept by a spade-tipped seconds hand. The effect is irreverent and playful, as though the watch were teasing its wearer, yet the mechanism behind it remains a demonstration of serious horological expertise. It is a clever evolution of the Joker concept—both humorous and mechanically sophisticated.
It stands as a symbol of what happens when two independent creators come together with imagination, craft, and daring: a timepiece that entertains as much as it impresses, embodying humor, ingenuity, and the art of mechanical storytelling.
