Konstantin Chaykin Kolobok — Folklore Meets Fine Watchmaking

The Konstantin Chaykin Kolobok is one of the most whimsical creations in modern horology — a watch that transforms Russian folklore into a masterpiece of mechanical art. Limited to just 99 pieces worldwide, this joyful timepiece belongs to the brand’s celebrated Wristmons collection, where every watch has a unique “face” and personality.

Inspired by the Kolobok — a mischievous yellow bun from Russian fairy tales, often compared to the Gingerbread Man — this watch reinterprets the story through a vibrant dial and an animated display of time. Its two expressive “eyes” show the hours (left) and minutes (right), while the smiling “mouth” reveals both the day of the week and the moon phase. With its warm gradient yellow-to-orange dial and charming blue eyes, the Kolobok radiates joy, humor, and creativity at every glance.

A Mechanical Tale from Russian Folklore

The Kolobok story tells of a playful bun that escapes from the oven and rolls into the world on a series of adventures — a theme that Konstantin Chaykin captures through motion and symbolism. The rotating day disc displays seven characters representing each day of the week, echoing the character’s encounters in the tale.

This is Chaykin’s unique genius: transforming narrative into mechanics. Each Wristmons model — from Joker to Minions to Kolobok — becomes a living piece of storytelling, where fine watchmaking meets emotion and imagination. The convex dial design, subtle gradients, and meticulous finishing combine to create a watch that feels alive, playful, and truly one of a kind.

Technical Brilliance Behind the Smile

While humorous in appearance, the Kolobok remains a serious feat of horology. Inside its 40 mm stainless-steel case, a Konstantin Chaykin Calibre K.18-20 powers the display — an in-house module built atop a Swiss ETA 2892-A2 automatic base. The movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and offers a 42-hour power reserve, while sapphire crystals on both sides allow a full view of the mechanical artistry within.

Adding a touch of exclusivity, the watch features a crown design inspired by Chaykin’s “Stargazer” Only Watch, and a handcrafted alligator strap with yellow stitching that perfectly matches the dial’s joyful tone.
